Saïdo Lehlouh and Johanna Faye, co-directors of the choreographic national center of Rennes and Brittany and Compagnie Black Sheep, are looking for 3 dancers living in Birmingham or the surrounding areas to take part in a research residency in Birmingham as part of FranceDanceUK and Fabrique Birmingham – a collaboration between Birmingham Hippodrome, DanceXchange and Theatre National de Chaillot (Paris). This period of choreographic research will explore ideas which Saïdo and Johanna may later incorporate into a piece created with their core company dancers for a proposed presentation at Birmingham International Dance Festival (BIDF) in 2020.
Dancers must be aged 18+, but can be from any style and level of experience. Particular interests in the choreographers’ practice are Hip Hop, House Dance, Electro, B-boying, Contemporary, Krump and partner work. An open mind is essential.
ENGAGEMENT PERIOD – EXPLORATION / REHEARSALS
Where: DanceXchange Studios, Birmingham Hippodrome, Thorp Street, Birmingham B5 4T
When: From 22/10 to 26/10 (8 hours per day 10am-6pm) and from 28 Oct to 31 Oct (4 hours per day 2-6pm)
Salary : £750 per dancer – paid on submission of an invoice at the end of the engagement.
