DanceXchange is excited to offer an Intensive workshop with Michael Clark Company on Saturday 16 January 2016, 10:30 – 5pm in The Patrick Centre. The fee is £35 for the day. Deadline to confirm your application and make your payment: Thursday 7 January 2016.
This one-day workshop is aimed at dance artists and 2nd/3rd year vocational degree students. It is an opportunity to explore the techniques demanded by Clark’s choreography and learn elements of company repertoire from recent productions. Participants will work creatively with the material in a way that mirrors the studio practice of MCC dancers.
This workshop is led by Melissa Hetherington, MCC long term company dancer. Born in London, Melissa started her professional training as Junior Associate at The Royal Ballet School. After graduating from The London Studio Centre in 2000 she worked with Sheron Wray’s JazzXchange Music and Dance Company. Melissa joined Michael Clark Company in 2001, exclusively performing in all of the company’s works. Melissa performed with Mikhail Baryshnikov in Michael Clark’s ‘Rattle Your Jewellery’ and has worked alongside Michael on projects including Alexander McQueen’s fashion shows and with photographers Nick Knight, David Bailey, Miles Aldridge and Will Davidson.
