Dance Hub Birmingham (DHB) is seeking proposals for two exciting new call out opportunities, paving the way for the opening of the city’s new purpose-built dance studio in September 2019 and amplifying the presence of dance in the Digbeth Weekender festival in October 2019. Visit News for details.
Dance Hub Studio 15 Ideas Call Out
DHB are inviting proposals from dance artists and practitioners for 15 engaging Ideas that will populate the new DHB studio space over 15 dedicated days between July and September.
If you had access to the DHB studio for one day, what would you do?
DHB are looking for ideas that:
- bring artists into the space
- explore choreographic practice in all dance styles
- reflect and celebrate diversity
- offer different ways of testing out the space
The studio will be provided in kind. DHB partners will be using this period as an opportunity to test the use and operation of the space in different ways. Selected artists will need to be open to and supportive of this studio testing process and open to sharing their constructive feedback.
Deadline: Please submit your proposals to firstname.lastname@example.org by 12 noon on Wednesday 3 July.
Dance Hub Birmingham Digbeth Weekender Call Out
DHB are also inviting proposals for three exciting strands of commissioning which will celebrate and amplify the presence of dance in the Digbeth Weekender festival, set to take place in a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces across Digbeth from Friday 4th October and Sunday 6th October 2019.
Strand One: Two £15k commissions for genuine location-based work that demonstrates engagement with spaces and audiences (with a further potential to also be selected for Birmingham International Dance Festival 2020).
Strand Two: A series of £5k commissions aimed at artists who have previously received DHB commissioning funds – developing and extending the legacy of work developed with prior DHB investment and reaching new audiences.
Strand Three: One £15k commission for an artist-led platform for curated work from independent artists working in the city region.
Deadline: Please submit your proposals to email@example.com by 12 noon on Wednesday 10 July.
