BBC #DancePassion / FREE Professional Class

Join us for an unprecedented celebration of the UK’s dance scene, BBC #DancePassion will include exclusive rehearsals and insights from some of the country’s leading practitioners.

BBC #DancePassion is a dance festival organised by BBC Arts in collaboration with One Dance UK, along with leading names and exciting new talent.  BBC #DancePassion will run across television, radio and online on the BBC from Sunday 31 March to Saturday 6 April, with a live streaming day on Friday 5 April from dance hubs across the country including DanceXchange for Birmingham.

We are looking for professional dancers and 2nd & 3rd year vocational dance students to be part of our FREE professional class on Friday 5 April, 9.30-11am. Johhny Autin will lead a contemporary class for professional dance practitioners, to open the BBC #DancePassion day programme hosted in our studios. This class will be accompanied by live music from percussionist Azizi Cole.

As the class is being filmed and live broadcast across BBC online’s channels, the class content will include limited floor work and will include energetic and dynamic travelling phrases, centre work and sequences.

BBC #DancePassion in Birmingham will be broadcast from DanceXchange studios at Birmingham Hippodrome and in partnership with Birmingham Royal Ballet. Birmingham Hippodrome is home to Birmingham Royal Ballet, DanceXchange, Dance Consortium and One Dance UK, as well as Birmingham Hippodrome’s own Artistic programme; adding up to the busiest hub of dance activity outside London.
