New for 2021, Dance4 and DanceXchange will deliver MY (Midlands Youth) Dance Digital 2021, a celebration of youth dance across the whole of the Midlands region.
As part of MY Dance we are excited to offer 5 x free dance workshops on Saturday 10 April 2021 throughout the day. Our 60-min workshops are suitable for young dancers aged 13-25 year olds. These exclusive sessions will take place via ZOOM.

11am – 12pm: Contemporary with Mayowa Ogunnaike / BOOK NOW
This class will involve a mixture of contemporary technique and improvisation. Focusing on movement quality and texture, we will build up a dynamic vocabulary of ‘basic effort actions’ to embody throughout our movement. These actions include, wringing, floating, pressing and slashing. The class will conclude with a fun and challenging phrase to bring together everything we have explored.
12.30 – 1.30pm: Vogue with Jason Andrew Guest / BOOK NOW
Learn the fundamentals of the vogue dance styles and the ballroom culture it comes from. So strike a pose and join us for an introduction to voguing. Learn to vogue, walk (or wheel) and bring it to the runway with Mutha of the House Of Myztique & Legendary daughter of the House of Ghetto
2 – 3pm: Kathak with Aakash Odedra and Kesha Raithatha / BOOK NOW
This class will provide its participants with an introduction into the world of the traditional India style of Kathak. The movement will draw from Kathak sensibilities and explore them in a contemporary context. This class will explore the movement vocabulary that has emerged from blending these two worlds.
3.30 – 4.30pm: Hip Hop with Gareth Woodward / BOOK NOW
In this workshop students can expect an introduction to the history of Hip Hop dance with an emphasis on learning the fundamentals before incorporating them into a short routine.
5 – 5.45pm: Handstand Techniques & Control with Anna Fooks / BOOK NOW
Time to go upside down! This workshop will be covering all of which is required to gain control and improve their handstand technique. The fundamentals shared will apply to a variety of balances such as headstands and many more. This workshop is open to all levels of experience and you will require clear wall space for a variety of exercises.
