As part of France Dance UK’s Professionals & Practitioners Programme
Led by Josette Baïz, Artistic Director of Compagnie Grenade and Magali Fouque, Lead Artist.
Suitable for dancers, artists, practitioners and teachers, the masterclass will focus on the dance practice of Compagnie Grenade. The session will begin with some background and group discussion and then move into a practical session, sharing techniques, tools and tips on how the Baïz company work and create with young people.
Josette Baïz’s inspirational work with young people from diverse communities in the north of Marseilles very much mirrors the ethos that drives ACE dance and music – striving to transform the lives of young people through dance and nurture them into professional careers in the arts.
Gail Parmel, Artistic Director & Co-founder of ACE dance & music
Please note this masterclass follows a Pro Class 10 -11.30am, led by Josette Baïz and Magali Fouque, which is part of the Brum Pro Class provision. Visit here for details of the class and how to become a member of Birmingham Pro Class. Pro Classes cost £10 for non-members.
Working from a contemporary technical base, Josette Baïz draws inspiration from her collaborators. Her work is developed using gestures, floor work and developing the dancers’ range of movement, stretching and releasing tension. The Pro Class will also use improvisation techniques to unlock each dancer’s creativity.
