FIGURE

LANRE MALAOLU as part of Festival of Audacity

FIGURE is an experimental film about boys growing up without fathers. It explores how early detachment from a father figure affects emotional growth and engagement with the world. Through a dynamic fusion of physical theatre and hip-hop dance, the film follows two young men as they search for answers both outside and inside themselves.

Created by Lanre Malaolu. Produced by Lorna Nickson Brown. Starring Nnabiko Ejimofor and Lanre Malaolu. With cinematography by Monika Jastrzebska and music by Mau Loseto.

Free Radical presents Festival Of Audacity; a multidisciplinary festival of activist art making all of Birmingham its stage from Thursday 27 – Saturday 29 September. For art to have a real impact it needs to be bold, and Festival of Audacity wants to be a home for young artists who make brave choices about what they choose to say, how they say it, where they say it, and who they address. It exists to make space for young creators to take risks and reach people beyond traditional arts venues. Figure is supported by DanceXchange.
