DanceXchange announces new performance season for 2017
DanceXchange is pleased to announce our new January to June 2017 season in The Patrick Centre, Birmingham Hippodrome.
The new season is one of our most ambitious, with productions that include subversive theatrical twists on familiar stories; acrobatic, circus-inspired dance; a fusion of modern and classical ballet; and a striking synthesis of contemporary and African styles, plus an international flavour from two companies on their first tours to the UK.
The January to June 2017 season highlights includes:
- Tavaziva’s Africarmen, an energetic re-telling of the Carmen story set in an oil-rich township.
A new take on Shakespeare’s iconic heroine Rosalind by James Cousins Company in collaboration with Korean artists.
A triple bill of bold choreography from Ballet Black
Arthur Pita and HeadSpace’s gruesome exploration of all things gothic with the brilliant Stepmother / Stepfather.
Acrobatic dance and circus performance from Joli Vyann
ŻfinMalta Dance Ensemble’s, first UK tour featuring work from company artistic director Mavin Khoo
