Back by popular demand, Dance Insights Online returns to our screens this Autumn with an exciting new line up and working with some great new partners and collaborators.

In October we will introduce a curated programme celebrating Dance of the African Diaspora (DAD), in collaboration with One Dance UK , followed by a series of inspirational events focused on ScreenDance in partnership with Flatpack in November.

Dance of the African Diaspora programme features:

DANCE ON SCREEN / Wed 28 October / 6.30pm

A presentation of dance work made for the screen curated by internationally acclaimed artist Joseph Toonga (Artistic Director of Just Us Dance Theatre), showcasing outstanding choreographers Jade Hackett (UK) and Renann Fontoura (Brazil) alongside an exclusive online presentation of his own work, Born To Manifest – followed by a Q&A with all the artists.

MASTERCLASS with Joseph Toonga / Fri 30 October / 11am

A bespoke masterclass delivered by Joseph Toonga specifically for dance artists looking to enhance their creative practice.  A professional development opportunity where participants will explore everything from choreographic process, to techniques for working with dancers from different specialisms.  Participants are offered the chance to apply to take part in DX’s first Remote Residency – a paid opportunity to test ideas and receive support from the DanceXchange Artist Development team.

DISCUSSION: Contemporary  vs Tradition: navigating through contemporary spaces / Fri 6 Nov / 2.30pm

A lively panel discussion, this session will bring together some of the UK’s most exciting talent, working within DAD, and invites artists to reflect on their experiences of making work that spans indoor and outdoor spaces, connecting with audiences and navigating perceptions of their practice as Black dance makers.
