A cheeky dance celebration of the child within.
Spill is an outdoor production by DanceXchange, choreographed by Shaun Parker and created specifically for playgrounds, aiming to take dance to the heart of our local communities. Combining quirky, dynamic dance with high energy street gymnastics, the dancers in this performance blaze a colourful trail across the structures and landscapes of the playground. Each performance is unique, as the show scrambles around, over, under and through, swings, slides and roundabouts. Kids will love it, grown-ups will love it too!
Spill premiered at International Dance Festival Birmingham 2012, and was performed at 32 locations across neighbourhoods in the West Midlands.
Touring from 2012-2014, Spill has been presented 131 times, in 51 parks, over 3 countries, performing to 28,568 audience members.
Highlights include: New York City for City Parks Foundation and their SummerStage Festival and Central Park Conservancy's Sandbox Program in July 2014
Spill was originally created as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad and London Festival 2012, an Inspire Mark Project led by DanceXchange in partnership with West Midlands Dance Agencies DanceFest, Dancescape and Dudley Performing Arts.

At DanceXchange our aim is to bring dance to more people in Birmingham and the West Midlands region, through performances, productions, classes and community outreach.
As we look to our long term future, we want to continue this work and we want to keep dance alive in the region. As a registered charity, we receive core funding from Arts Council England and Birmingham City Council, along with a range of trusts and foundations.
But we also need support from individuals and businesses to make this happen.
By supporting DanceXchange, you will help us fulfil our core objectives: to produce exceptional work; to bring outstanding performances to Birmingham; and to enable people of all walks of life to engage in dance either as a participant, performer or audience member. It’s easy to show us your support!
Click here to Make a Donation. Every pound will help us transform lives through dance. Thanks to an Arts Council England Catalyst award, donations from individuals are matched automatically. This means that, combined with Gift Aid, a £10 donation can be worth £22.50 to us. However, the scheme is for a limited period only – all the more reason to support dx today!
