The training will provide every participant with the skills and confidence to reach their physical, technical and creative potential.
These classes focus on dance technique, physical skills, alignment, placement, strength, flexibility and co-ordination. Students gain an understanding of safe practice and a healthy lifestyle, self-awareness and a realistic understanding of their own bodies.
These classes enable students develop and explore ideas, to generate movement material, to encourage open mindedness and the opportunity to find their own choreographic voice.
Taken on a weekly basis and complimenting the required technique classes these sessions are centred on ballet, release and other styles of contemporary dance training and/or Pilates, Yoga, body conditioning, diet & nutrition and health & safety.
As suitable performances are available we will organise or recommend that students attend at least once per term. The visits will give students the opportunity to broadening their knowledge and awareness of other dance styles as well as enhance their own practice.
Individual Training Plans (ITPs) are designed to get the best out of the training and set individual programme targets and goals. CAT is aware that young dancers develop and improve at different speeds and the Individual Training plans allow us to monitor this. Each student’s ITP is a bespoke document that is devised between the teaching team, the student and their parents/guardians/carers. In addition, we will also send the training plan to any other dance teachers with whom students are taking additional classes and they can be shared with teachers where students are studying for exams such as GCSE’s, AS and A Level’s.
Each student will be assessed through an annual review with their Subject Leader and the Programme Manager. Continuation into the following year is dependent upon the outcome of this review. The review focuses on the student’s attendance, their commitment and progress throughout the year. Students will receive a written report with individual feedback at the end of the summer term. A copy of the report will also be sent to parents/guardians for their comment and consideration.
