U.Dance Ensemble Auditions update

News U.Dance Ensemble Auditions update

25th November 2011

Auditions to select dancers for the first UK-wide youth dance company the U.Dance Ensemble have been taking place across the UK in recent weeks

Young dancers between 16 and 19 years old had been invited over the summer 2011 to apply to be part of this new company, and following preliminary auditions have now been short-listed to attend the final audition on 4th December 2011 at the Royal Opera House.

The U.Dance Ensemble will be led by the renowned choreographer Hofesh Shechter, who will lead the 4th December audition and have the final word on the dancers picked to form the Ensemble.

Once formed, the Ensemble will meet on 3 occasions for residential rehearsal periods in February in Glasgow, in April in Wales, and in July in London, where they will work on a new piece under Shechter’s direction. This new work will be premiered at Youth Dance England’s flagship festival U.Dance 2012 at Southbank Centre on 13th July 2012.
