Dance UK Birmingham Party – Monday 28 November
22nd November 2011
6pm at ACE Dance and Music, Floodgate, Birmingham, B5 5SL
Dance UK are hosting a FREE party in Birmingham on 28 November. The party is open to Dance UK members and anyone in the dance sector who’d like to know about what Dance UK is working on and also have a chance to have a fun, relaxed evening with friends and colleagues. The event will provide an opportunity for you to put across your individual and collective concerns and ideas, whilst getting together with fellow members, friends and colleagues for an enjoyable and fruitful evening.
• Bring a buffet dish & enjoy a social dance class with friends
We’ll eat and drink together, so please bring a dish with you to add to the party buffet at both events. We’ll also talk about Dance UK’s plans and share members’ views, and even have some dancing, (the short cha cha class at the Dance UK summer party was lots of fun). Don’t worry if you don’t want to dance, just sit and chat over a drink with other members.
As you may know, Dance UK’s regular funding from Arts Council England comes to an end in April 2012. Over the last month we’ve begun a review of what Dance UK does and how the sector feels about the services and support we offer. This is to help us plan for the future and to inform applications to Arts Council England and other funders for alternative money for Dance UK. We are very much looking forward to sharing some of the early findings with you.
We would love for you to spread the word and feel free to bring guests along –more members makes Dance UK even stronger and helps generate funds for us to continue. So, if you can bring other colleagues along who you think will be interested in hearing about what Dance UK does, we’d love to have them there.
We also have some hugely exciting developments to discuss regarding the imminent Healthier Dancer Programme launch of the first phase of the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science (NIDMS), which will open at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. NIDMS will provide a free specialist clinic for injured professional dancers to access dance-specific treatment and will launch early 2012.
To RSVP to the party contact Nouska on 020 7713 0730 or email nouska@danceuk.org. Nouska can also help if you need an interpreter or have any special access requirements.
