Breathe the Beat

News Breathe the Beat

8th August 2011

Breathe the Beat is an exciting digital dance project from DanceXchange. Internationally renowned hip-hop artist Salah shows you how to take inspiration from your every day surroundings and create routines using his unique PABE (Popping, Animation, Boogaloo, Effect) style.

Upload your video to the competition and you could perform at a live event and even win the chance to meet Salah himself! Breathe the Beat is a unique opportunity to be inspired by one of hip-hop’s leading talents, and showcase your skills online for the world to see!

On Saturday 23 July, Breathe the Beat set up camp in Birmingham’s Victoria Square and Coventry’s Millennium Place as part of the Cultural Olympiad’s celebrations to mark the one year countdown to the London 2012 Olympics.

The Breathe the Beat dancers performed throughout the day, with freestyle performances from Brooke and Mouse, as well as routines from the Dance Leaders who will be appearing at roadshows throughout the West Midlands over the next year.

The hundreds of people who enjoyed the sunshine and the free performances also got a first look at the trailer on the big screen.

The event was the first of many that Breathe the Beat will be appearing at, so keep checking the What’s On section, as we add more events.
