CLICK HERE FOR EVENTS & OPPORTUNITIES
West Midlands based artists can hire our studios in advance at a rate of £10 plus VAT per hour when dx staff/receptionists are normally present (10.00am to 5.45pm, Monday to Friday throughout the year, except for 2 weeks at Christmas). There may be other times when this rate will be available depending on activity in the building. If we are required to bring in extra reception cover, this cost (£8.50 plus VAT per hour, minimum 4hr call) will be passed on to the hirer.
If we're actively engaged in a project with you, e.g. commissioning or managing it, space will be provided in kind.

The Patrick Centre performance programme
We programme two professional dance seasons per year, Spring and Autumn; these do not have fixed start or end dates. The shaping and final decisions that are taken to make the programme a reality are done so within a fluid work pattern, as so many factors need to be considered. Generally a season will be discussed/shaped about 6 to 12 months in advance.
The best way to be considered for a performance slot is to invite either the dx Programme Manager or Artistic Director to see current work and then submit proposals to the Programme Manager. dx cannot take up detailed discussions on all proposals but will endeavour to give feedback to West Midlands based artists if their work is not programmed. Contact Programme Manager Emma Southworth for more details.
Other Ways to Utilise The Patrick Centre
We also offer our studio theatre for:
-
Production time & resources
-
Research & development
-
Performances, workshops & lecture demonstrations
The Patrick Centre standard hire rate is £400 plus VAT per day, with a special rate available for West Midlands based artists. There will be additional charges for technical resources, support and staffing. To discuss hires and costs please contact our Programme Manager Emma Southworth
Applying to be programmed as part of a West Midlands based artists platform
New Vibes is an annual platform held in June or July, and is created specifically to provide West Midlands based artists with an opportunity to show their work. Artists can access production resources, performance opportunities and feedback. A deadline for submitting proposals is set and publicised annually.

Becoming a dancer in, or choreographing for, Bare Bones
Bare Bones is our resident dance company, led by Artistic Director David Massingham who selects the performers and choreographers that work with the company.
Dancers are selected through an open audition process, and auditions are generally advertised in industry publications and websites (e.g. Article19, londondance.com), on our noticeboard, and also through National Dance Agencies and direct mail. If you’re interested in becoming a performer with the company, it is advisable that you log your interest with the Company Manager and provide us with an up-to-date CV.
