DanceXchange works with Associate Artists, who may or may not be based in the region. These are artists whose work DanceXchange’s Artistic Director is particularly interested in. On being approached by DanceXchange, the artist must present a proposal for support, which may include space-in-kind, technical and marketing support, production time, performance opportunities and, in some cases, financial support towards the production of new work. All Associate Artists also receive support and advice from DanceXchange’s Artistic Director and Programme Manager, who also advocate for their work nationally and internationally. Associate Artists will often also deliver education or dance development projects for DanceXchange.

Associate Artists are appointed on an ‘ad hoc’ basis by invitation only.

DanceXchange is thrilled to be currently working with three outstanding Associate Artists from the West Midlands.

Rosie Kay has had a long association with DanceXchange and we are very happy to be supporting her on the development of her new work, “5 SOLDIERS: The Body is the Frontline”, through co-commissioning the work and providing space-in-kind for the work’s creation.

Tamsin Fitzgerald’s 2FaCeD DaNcE Company are regular visitors to The Patrick Centre and, through Tamsin’s role as Associate Artist, have produced their new show “Still Breathing” at DanceXchange.

Mickael “Marso” Riviere has established an international reputation for his unique fusion of contemporary and hip-hop dance. DanceXchange is supporting Mickael through the Associate Artist scheme to create new work and prepare this for touring.
