CAT students Reach for the Sky!
CAT students made an impression at the Regional Excellent! Reach for the Sky event on Thursday 25th March. Performing as part of a festival of national ‘Excellent!’ showcases taking place this month to celebrate the DCSF Music and Dance Scheme, the students performed at Birmingham Town Hall in an evening of dance and music.
As part of a truly collaborative effort, our Contemporary students combined their talents with those of the musicians from Lichfield Cathedral School Choirs. In a fitting celebration of Pergolesi’s 300th anniversary, they performed a piece choreographed by Rosie Kay, inspired by his Stabat Mater.
Choreographed by Sujata Banerjee and Anusha Subramanyam, our South Asian students performed Ulhas (a celebration). Showcasing the distinct and traditional forms of Kathak and Bharatanatyam our students performed separate pieces which culminated in both dance forms meeting in an explosive display of rhythm and music.
