BECS, a project that introduced hundreds of boys to dance

The Boys Self Expression and Communication in Staffordshire (BECS) saw artists work with 12 PE staff and 200 pupils on a Boys Dance Festival with 8 different schools across the county. Artists provided inset training to bolster the confidence and dance technique of PE teachers, and a resource was devised after the project as a further tool. We use classical Bharatanatyam styles from the Indian tradition, working creatively to engage with children and young people in many curriculum-based topics.
