I have always had a personal interest in dance, both in participation and as an audience member and have been lucky enough to develop this interest though education. After graduating from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh with a degree in Drama and Theatre Arts, I embarked on my first role in the arts as Marketing Assistant for community arts scheme, Live & Local, based in Warwick. My interests have expanded into the broader scope of the culture sector which led me to an MA European Cultural Policy & Management at University of Warwick, which I completed this year.

I joined DanceXchange in November 2009 as Programme Assistant for the Centre for Advanced Training in South Asian and Contemporary Dance (CAT). My role in CAT involves managing the student grant and fees process, enrolment, coordinating student’s timetables, coordinating performance opportunities for students and contributing to the overall development of the programme.  In November 2010, I took on the additional role of Youth Dance Project Manager which will involve coordinating The Best of Raw Energy performance platform event, assisting with the business planning and monitoring as well as general enquiries.

In April 2011 I continue in my role as Youth Dance Project Manager to deliver the 2011/2012 West Midlands Youth Dance Business Plan. I’m looking forward to continuing to develop the strong network that has existed over the last two years and to continue to support/maintain the wealth of opportunities for young people to participate in dance; as creators, performers and leaders.

When I am not working or studying, I am enjoying the plentiful supply of cultural experiences that Birmingham has to offer, mainly gigs, visual arts exhibitions, theatre and of course, dance!?
