Prior to working at DanceXchange I was employed by Birmingham City Council for five years; starting out as a Personal Assistant in the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, then moving on to the role of Project & Communications Officer for the employee engagement team. This was a great role where I got to manage a number of staff reward & recognition projects and hand out awards to those staff who were making a positive difference to their colleagues and members of the public. Most recently I was on an 11 month placement with the Office for National Statistics as Census Area Manager for Central Birmingham for the 2011 Census. It was a challenging and enjoyable role which mostly involved working with and speaking to community groups to help overcome barriers, challenge perceptions and most importantly, encourage completion of the questionnaire.
I joined DanceXchange in July 2011 to take on the Role of Community Engagement Manager for the International Dance Festival Birmingham 2012 and am really looking forward to turning my engagement experience from local government to the arts which has always been a passion of mine.
